Leadership is...
...the process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation to continually move the organization and individual forward, upward, and onward.
Building the White Stag Community
In 1997, Bela Banathy challenged us to build the White Stag community for the future. He laid out a 10 ideas for developing a vision of our future and expanding our community. Are we on the right track? To find out, fead
his challenge yourself.
Unit promotional visits underway
We need your help with visits to local troops who are interested in knowing more about White Stag. Please help out if you can; check
the schedule for presentations in your area.
Historic committment made to two summer camps
We have selected Rancho Alegre, located 20 miles north of Santa Barbara, California, and Camp Lindblad in the Santa Cruz Mountains as our two camps for 2009. Session 1 at Camp Lindblad will be July 12 – July 18th, 2009, and session 2 at Rancho Alegre will be August 2nd – August 8th, 2009. Most adults and youth staff have said they are willing to support a second week and we are actively recruiting for this additional week of camp.
Additional "tiered objectives" posted
To support your competency sessions, we've uploaded the remaining tiered objectives. These strengthen how we teach the leadership
skills to youth staff and candidates. These allow
us to select and prioritize exactly what we teach to each group every
year, to continually improve what we teach, and to more effectively
evaluate how well we reach our goals.
The
objectives defined in the youth staff syllabus and Candidate Notebook
handed out at the September meeting do not meet our newly defined
"SMART" criteria. We have written a first draft of the objectives for
five competencies. Your input is strongly desired.
