About the Competencies of Leadership

If you listen to the experts, leadership is defined as Situational Leadership. Likerts has described four leadership styles. Others says leadership is charismatic. Douglas MacGregor says humans are either inherently lazy and will avoid work if they can, or they are ambitious, self-motivated, and anxious to accept greater responsibility (Theory X / Theory Y). If you follow Daniel Goleman, leadership is all about emotional intelligence.

I grew up practicing leadership, not theorizing about it. Not that I've evolved into the perfect leader. But I am striving in this forum to anchor the discussion of leadership in a real-world, practical analysis. My blog is an attempt to sort the wheat from the chaff, to cut through to the essence of what comprises leadership. Two questions I'll continually are, "Can people do it?" and "Has it already been done?" Let me know what you think.
