"Yeah, this was an awesome camp! I really had a lot of fun! And I learned so much too, everything from knots and lashings to first aid to firebuilding." Evilkinky

Camp Phases

Depending on your age, skill level, and grade level, you will attend one of three phases:

Leadership Skills

White Stag believes in leadership development by design. We know that good leaders never stop learning. We constantly check to see how we are progressing.

We believe you probably already know something about leadership. We structure learning to begin with what you already know, and help you improve what you don't know. We call this process manager of learning.

We focus on the basics. Depending on your age, you will learn parts of eleven leadership competencies. And you will be required to write an agreement to apply some of these new skills at home.

What Makes White Stag Distinctive

We recognize that youth learn best when your whole body and mind is engaged. We provide a hands-on, outdoors, challenging learning experience.

We create an environment where it's safe for you to try out new behaviors, to be the best they can be. We teach that the opposite of success is not failure, but to quit.

Just like in school, boys and girls learn together. Adults are always available to help with any differences or challenges that might arise.

We take a whole-person approach to learning. You get to learn leadership with your hands by practicing them in the outdoors, by your head using the leadership skills, and by your heart by taking part in our spirit and traditions.

Health and Safety

Our adult leaders are all fully trained Scout leaders. All of the adults must complete youth protection training, and where appropriate, additional training specific to their role. We have a fully qualified medical staff on hand at all events, including a licensed nurse and trained emergency medical technicians (EMT).

We are sensitive to the needs of individuals of varying capacities and skill levels. Our staff is trained to recognize individual differences and to value everyone's ability to contribute.

Our youth staff are fully supervised at all times. When in the field, they are always accompanied by adults and trained medical staff. In the event of an emergency, we maintain contingency plans for communication in the back country and for transporting or evacuating members.
