Who We Serve

White Stag is for all youth 10½ - 18 who like a challenge.

The teens who come to White Stag come from a variety of cultural and economic backgrounds. Some of these teens do very well in traditional school environments, while others struggle with classroom education. In our society, an increasing number of youth do not succeed typical school environments. As school budgets shrink and class sizes increase, students with different ways of learning get less attention.

White Stag is for any teen that wants to learn in a hands-on, outdoors camp. Our camp is fun with a purpose. For example, you will play games, but they are not just for fun. The games give you a chance to learn and practice leadership.

White Stag is not designed specifically for youth with learning disabilities like ADHD. However we find that because of the way our program is structured that these kinds of youth tend to do well.

Note that our adult and youth staff are not trained to work with youth with serious learning disabilities and we cannot accommodate youth with severe impairments or those that would impair our youth staff's ability to conduct the program. For information, please contact us.

We combine a demanding, physical outdoors program with hands-on learning methods. This works because it allows active teens to quiet their bodies down long enough to pay attention. Our program to fun with a purpose.

White Stag offers teens 11-17 a fun, challenging week-long leadership development experience. Ask any teen who has been to camp what they enjoyed most, and they will say, "It's fun." But don't expect to hang out by the pool and spend time at the snack bar. You won't have any free time to speak of. You'll be busy virtually every moment with a variety of challenging leadership activities, including camping, backpacking, and a variety of team-building activities. Reserve your spot now, and be one of 300 teens to attend leadership camp in the summer of 2010.

Whether you know anyone in camp or not, you'll be mixed together with other teens and make friends fast. Challenged to work together to solve problems, you'll prepare food, pitch camp, and get hands-on experience learning leadership skills with other teens.

White Stag Leadership Camp, led by a group of experienced adult volunteers, is for all teens 10½-17.

• Youth 10½ to 13 usually attend Phase 1 Patrol Member Development.
• Youth 13 to 15 typically attend Phase 2 Patrol Leader Development.
• Teens age 15-17 will probably attend Phase 3 Troop Leader Development.
