White Stag and BSA's Junior Leader Training
Staff Development
NYLT and White Stag train their youth staff very differently.
National Youth Leadership Training
Once a boy completes the program, he may be able to serve on staff.
Three staff development weekends are held to prepare for camp. NYLT staff
are expected to memorize the syllabus. They are instructed to turn on
the DVD presentation when key learning points are being taught.
White Stag Leadership Development
Youth staffs meet at least once a month for nine months to practice
and apply the leadership skills. During staff development, they plan
and produce the entire week-long summer camp. They develop the leadership
training sessions and prepare to present them for the most part at the
patrol level. White Stag expects the youth to develop a week long camp
plan, to personally integrate, and then teach to others, the leadership
competencies.
